Heather works with adolescents and adults suffering from a wide range of mental health and emotional issues, specializing in eating disorders and trauma related disorders. Her training and expertise with Family Based Treatment allows for an opportunity to provide parent support and Maudsley based skills coaching as needed through the recovery process. Heather strives to create an encouraging, and inclusive environment for her clients through trust, kindness, and humor. She uses an eclectic mix of trauma informed approaches including CBT, DBT, solution-focused, psychodynamic, and is client-centered.
Heather earned her master’s degree from Boston College’s Graduate School of Social Work in 2011. Prior to joining Birch Hill Behavioral Health, Heather worked as the Program Director of Walden Behavioral Care’s residential program specializing in eating disorders where she had worked for over 10 years providing evidence-based treatment to all ages. She has lead a variety of therapeutic groups focused on DBT, CBT, body image, self-esteem, perfectionism, and family issues. As a psychotherapist at Walden she provided both individual and family therapy through the treatment process and was able to complete extensive training in both DBT and FBT. Heather’s experience as a counselor working at McLean Hospital’s Inpatient trauma unit has supported her work with treating personality disorders, suicidality and self injury.
